Nu-Urban Gardeners

2010

Location – National Theatre, London
Event – Watch This Space Festival
Date – Saturday 27th July 2010
Time – 2pm – 6pm

NUG – Activity -New Miniature Urban Gardens & Allotments
Garden Specialists - Chris Lewis-Jones & Simon Withers (Head Gardeners)

After a successful visit to the ‘Watch this Space’ festival in 2009 (in conjunction with Home Live Arts, ‘Alternative Village Fete’), ‘Grow your Own’ were invited to return to London’s Southbank to present our New miniature gardens and allotments project. One more the prestigious Golden Spade Award was up for grabs for the best design*. A splendid day was had by all and the WTS festival provided us with a fitting climax to our 2010 growing season.

* As in2009, the head gardeners shall judge, using as our directive, the guidance notes offered in the ‘Clubs and Society Rule Book, (1) to select a winner for the best plot (2010 growing season).

The Nugs would like to thank:

Angus MacKechnie – Producer & Programmer of WTS
Emily Thomas - Watch This Space Festival & Platforms Assistant
Tariq Hussain – Production Manager

And a big thank you to all the technical and production staff (for making and assembling the tables) and to the helpers and volunteers at the National Theatre...you all made us feel most welcome...and with overnight accommodation provided and access to our very own green room (with fruit and biscuits’ on the table)...and with lunch and dinner vouchers included...we had a most splendid time.
